Institute for Digital Methodologies
Activities
The Institute of Digital Methodology (IDM) was established on 1 May 2020, based on the decisions of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Modern Philology and Social Sciences of the University of Pannonia on 11 March 2020 and the Senate of the University of Pannonia on 26 March 2020.
From 2020 to 2024, the Institute was engaged in teaching, research, development and service activities in the fields of digital pedagogy, e-learning, digital curriculum development, online learning environments, educational software development.
The educational portfolio has been developed through the establishment and launch of the following training courses and specialisations:
- Methodology and technology of digital work (DMMT) teacher training for the teacher examination
- Development of Digital Citizenship Competences (DAKF) - specialised training
- Interactive Educational Strategies and Methods in Digital Culture (IOSM) - specialised training
- Specialisation in Digital Pedagogy for the Master of Education
- Methodology of Teaching Digital Culture (DKTM) - specialisation
- Specialisation in instructional design for the Bachelor of Education
- Instructional designer postgraduate training
- Instructional design and digital content development (ODT) teacher qualification
The Institute has actively contributed to the development of the first distance education courses (Master of Education, Master of Mental Health) of the University of Pannonia, to the development of the regulatory environment, course interfaces and digital course materials.
During this period, the research groups "Digital Being - Digital Culture" and "Research Group for Instructional Design (RG4ID)" were established, and a total of 16 online meetups, conferences and workshops demonstrated the Institute's professional-public activity. In the Institute of Digital Methodology, we founded the journal Pannon Digital Pedagogy (E-Learning - Distance Education - Education Informatics).

Education
IDM, as a leading player in the Hungarian e-learning training market, offers various levels of training in instructional design:
- Instructional designer postgraduate training (supervisor: János Ollé)
- Instructional design and digital curriculum development (ODT) - specialised training (Programme Leader: Andrea Matlári).
- E-learning development specialisation / pedagogy BSc (Programme Leader: Márk Kovács)
- Training design and digital curriculum development - adult education training (Programme Leader: János Ollé)
Research
The research group of the DMI Research Group for Instructional Design (RG4ID) is working on the following research topics:
- task typology
- LMS functionality
- characteristics of instructional videos
- instructional design and general didactics
Based on these thematic areas, we are open to collaborations in scientific and applied research, research + development + innovation projects.
Knowledge Management
In the context of the University of Pannonia's Digital Education Strategy, DMI carries out the following activities and provides the following services in the areas of instructional design, e-learning, online learning environments and digital curriculum development within the framework of the RRF-2.1.2.-21-2022-00007 project:
- design, development and delivery of contact and online training courses for teaching and non-teaching staff
- expert, consultancy and certification activities in the field of educational programme development, online course and digital curriculum development, and the development of market education products and distance learning courses
- organisation of professional events, professional days, workshops and conferences for dissemination purposes
- development of procedures, documents, teaching materials, templates, methodological manuals, competence and indicator systems for development and expert activities
Provide Service
We develop online learning platforms and digital learning materials that support the learning process efficiently and effectively. We create innovative, multimedia digital learning materials and exercises, as well as knowledge assessment tools that combine modern technology with our research and development expertise in educational science, educational psychology and methodology. We use state-of-the-art technologies and a software environment based on artificial intelligence. Detailed description on the University of Pannonia Competence Portal.
Professional-public activities
The University of Pannonia is a founding member of the EdTech Coalition, in which the Institute of Digital Methodology is responsible for the professional representation of the University and related activities. In the EdTech Coalition we participate in the following working groups.
In the Hungarian Rectors' Conference, Higher Education Methodology and Educational Informatics Forum, the professional representation of the University of Pannonia is provided by Dr. János Ollé, institutional delegate of the DMI.
The DMI is the founder and active organizer of the "E-Learning and Instructional Design Meetup" and is present at all major professional events and relevant conferences, as well as active in dissemination and marketing activities on related online portals and professional communities.
